Smailholm Community Learning
Smailholm Community Learning was set up in early 2003 to fill the partial vacuum left in the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning by the budget problems being experienced by the Scottish Borders Council. SCL will plan and deliver a wide range of lifelong learning experiences for the benefit of the community of Smailholm and surrounding area. SCL is now responsible for such events as the Smailholm Christmas Lecture to be held on 5th December, the Smailholm Lecture series that proved so popular earlier this year and of course the Wall Hanging Project. SCL is a separate entity from the Village Hall Committee and is therefore able to raise money in its own right. SCL has applied for charitable status, which will open up new sources of funding and has its own bank account. The current office bearers are Rowland Driscoll (Chair), Carol Ross (Treasurer) and Peter Symms (Secretary). |
